Oh my!! I was looking up my Ward Website tonight--and saw this "new announcement"--which was at least a couple weeks old, I'm sure. So--where've I been (busy--I know...)

That is SO awesome!!! This could be so helpful for kiddos stuck at home--or adults who are home-bound (especially if you have no access to BYUTV or KBYU--which most members likely don't have access too). I'm going to tell my mom about it--as she has been home bound for more than a year because of cancer treatment/chemotherapy!
These could be great for adapting or modifying lessons too! And I LOVE that the "Scripture Stories" are on here--not that they're "animated" (cause they're not)--but I so love the "Scripture Stories"--and found them incredible to teach with when teaching "Special Needs" Seminary. I think they are a VERY under-utilized resource--and should not be seen as only for children!!! I think they could make New Testament and Old Testament Sunday School lessons make far more sense if utilized and not "looked down upon"!!!

Primary Lesson
So--a couple weeks ago I taught Primary as a substitute. I taught the lesson about Jesus healing the blind man--the man He healed on the Sabbath.
Well--I utilized many ideas from the Primary manual of course. But--I DID NOT use a blind-fold.
I don't know--I have personal issues with that. I do think that experiencing what it may be like for someone with a disability can be a good thing--but too often students and people don't truly gain empathy--instead they learn to feel sorry for someone with a disability or something...
Anyway--so--instead I had the students just close their eyes and try to draw a picture. They "got it" pretty well.
Anyway--here was the funny part: I found a "Find the Hidden Picture" page in the Friend Magazine that I copied. It ended up being a great part of the lesson (used it as an object lesson), which almost worked better than anything else I did.
Then we combined for Sharing Time--and the younger class and teacher had done the same thing!!! So funny!!! They had worked on it together--while my 10 and 11 years old were VERY independent!
But--my point? USE THE FRIEND MAGAZINE!!!! It created a great part of this lesson--but the Friend can also be used to create great adaptations and modifications for children with different abilities!!!

Awesome Video!
I've been meaning to put this up for a couple months. Ya--what a busy life I lead--no time for even posting.
Anyway--this is an amazing show. The adoption story is great---but it is the Eagle Eyes video that I LOVE. It's about an hour long--so will take some time (I skip the adoption parts when I have showed it--not cause they're not great--but cause the Eagle Eyes is just better in my opinion).
Especially love that it's on BYU TV!!! Now to just make Eagle Eyes affordable for all who need them/could use them!

Well, wow!!!
Well--wow!!!
I have had some major life changes as of late, so this poor little blog has been ignored. BUT--I have some great news!!!! I'm combining my blogging efforts together--and creating a "Table of Contents" of sorts of my related blogs!!! I've had so much I've wanted to blog about--and have not been able to--so here's hoping this will help in more increased posting in the future!!!
Oh--and I have learned about Live Binder as well--which is a much easier way to post ideas for this blog, than Wiki--so I plan on updating that all soon as well!!!

Shocked and Amazed??!!!
So--are you shocked and amazed??!!
I'm still alive--yes--I am!
I've moved, started a new job--and the loverly adventure does not seem to be over yet--but who knows what that means at this point!
Anyway--I, unfortunately, have had absolutely NO time to work on more adapted lessons. BUT--I have had time to make a "network" connection with probably my only follower on this blog (as well as some others)--so--
I will try to find time to work on them more soon!!! AND to post the ones I promised months ago!!!
BUT--here's an AWESOME link to a blog that has some GREAT Quiet Books and other items (Primary Theme Posters, etc) that she allows readers to download for free! My friend said that she just downloaded the Quiet Book pages, sent them to Cosco for printing and binding (I think binding), and there you go!
BUT--I thought they could be so useful for more than just Quiet Books!! Check them out--tell me what you think!

P.S. As a reminder
P.S. As a reminder---one of the reasons why I've purchased the DVD's and would dare to call them "Primary" on DVD is because my nephew, at times, could be considered "home bound" because of his rare lung disease. Avoiding the germs (which unfortunately, kids grow) is very important.
So--he's in need of Gospel teaching, but is unable to always "attend" Church like other kids.
I think it was in July 2010 Ensign there was a good article in the Ensign about being "Homebound and Active" (I think it was July--may have been June--sorry--it's late. Not looking it up).
Anyway--as much as I still wish more emphasis was place in the article on the Ward and Branch members making more of an independent effort (i.e. offering the Sacrament to those whom are homebound without being asked first), the article is really good, and may give a better picture on some of what families like my nephew's deal with.
Anyway--sorry to be opinionated. I try to avoid that on this blog. But...such is life.

Okay--
I have not forgotten this blog--I promise. I've just been incredibly busy finishing my P H D. That book I've had to write is long and kind of complicated. But--I'm almost through (I hope and pray) and on to the next--which I'm really excited about.
So--hope to update soon! First to fix the back ground (what is up with "The Cutest" lately? Hello! Really annoying to just lose the background of your blog)--and then to add the Sunbeams/Nursery adaptations I've completed.
BUT--I have something awesome to put on this blog. Something I've found:
I purchased one of these for my nieces and nephew. http://www.fhedvd.com/ Thus far--(we only have 1 DVD--but have plans to purchase more in the future) have been AWESOME!!!
Perfect--yes for FHE--but even more--it's like "Primary" on the TV!!! The videos are cute, use the scriptures very accurately (from what I've been able to tell thus far).
I'm pretty darn picky about stuff like this--usually only suggest things the church produces--but thus far these DVD's have been heaven sent.
Oh--the best part--the kids LIKE them. They'll sit the whole hour and watch them all. They have these cute cartoon characters that display the value or Gospel principle being taught in a cute, funny away that keeps their interest.
Seriously--like Veggie Tales with the Book of Mormon (and no vegetables--and I like Veggie Tales--so don't get me wrong).
Oh--also--I actually broke down and purchased some of the Book of Mormon action figures. I was unsure about these--but bought them for my nephew who is "all boy". First the "Elders" (missionaries) are just awesome (the little one steals them from him and carries them around in her kid purse. It's hilarious!) Second--using them for lessons--when telling Book of Mormon stories to him SOOO helped him care and want to pay attention.
Third--he likes them. So--they're worth it to!!!!
So--thank you for reading. Will update soon! I guess all I can say is, I've actually broken down some of my own barriers (the DVD's and action figures) and found them helpful. I am the type of special education teacher who feels that I'll "get" it (most) anything if it will help a kid learn. And, as much as I want to ensure that the majority of what is used to teach the Gospel is from and endorsed from the Church--sometimes kids need more than the Church makes. SO--breaking some boundaries.
BUT--I'm still pretty careful--that's all I can say :)
